Derek Nicholas Padilla
June 10, 1966 - October 13, 2017
Derek N. Padilla died peacefully following a long illness on October 13, 2017. He was surrounded by loved ones when he passed. Derek was born in California, he grew up in Colorado where he attended Alsup Elementary, Adams City Jr. High and Adams City High School in Commerce City. He played baseball, football and basketball in school as well as in the Commerce City Youth League which was started by his father Nick Padilla and Arnold Perez. Before retiring, he worked as a loan officer for Megastar Financial Corp in Denver. He is survived by, and will forever be remembered by, his sisters, Sandra and Anita, his nieces Ralene and Meagan and his great nephew Trevin and great niece Lana. He was preceded in death by his parents Nick and Rose Padilla and his brother, Martin. Because Derek was always happy to help and cared so deeply for others, he had many very close friends who considered him their best friend and who will miss him dearly. A celebration and dinner honoring Derek’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 25 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at The Yellow Rose Events Center in Commerce City.
