Obituary for Betty C. Rudolph

Betty C. Rudolph
Betty (Elizabeth) C. Rudolph

Beloved mother and grandmother, 3rd generation Denver native, and philanthropist, Betty Rudolph, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 95. Betty attended East High School in Denver and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Colorado in 1944.

After finishing her degree, Betty married Rowe Rudolph, Jr., in 1946. They settled in Denver, where Betty had 3 girls: Cathy, Joan, and Ann. As Rowe grew his business, Betty actively supported the Denver community serving on numerous committees for various philanthropic organizations: Denver’s Community Chest, The Denver Ballet, Assistance League of Denver and others. She was also involved in the Cherry Hills Golf Assn, Colonial Dames and University of Colorado. She attended First Plymouth Congregational Church and sang soprano in the adult choir. Betty and Rowe loved golf, tennis, and the Phoenix sun. They eventually retired part time, as “snowbirds” in Phoenix, AZ. Betty had an unparalleled intellectual curiosity, which inspired her children and grandchildren to maintain a love of knowledge. She was an avid reader and member of clubs such as Scio and the Tuesday Class.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rowe Rudolph, Jr., and is survived by daughters; Cathy White (Frank White Jr.) of San Diego, CA; Joni Boesiger (Max Boesiger) of Eagle, ID; Ann Byrd (Rick L. Byrd) of Highlands Ranch, CO; as well as, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately referred to her as “Mame”.

Donations can be made in her name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Rocky Mountain Chapter: 2727 Bryant St, Denver, CO, Suite 380, Denver 80211. Link is jdrf.org/rockymountain or First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S Colorado Blvd., in Denver.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 1 p.m., at the Vi at Highlands Ranch Lodge, 2850 Classic Drive, Highlands Ranch, CO, 80126.
