Obituary for Elizabeth J. "Bette" Frost

Frost, Elizabeth Janetta (Bette) 9/23/1918 – 9/15/2018
Elizabeth J. Deel was born Sept. 23, 1918 in West Virginia. She was the only child of Rufus and Pauline Deel. The family moved to Denver in the ‘30s due to her mother’s health. She graduated from East High School. She married Albert G. Frost Jr (Jack) in 1948. They had their only child, Albert G. Frost III (Al), in 1949.
She went to work for Sears in 1959 after Jack had a heart attack. She worked as a cashier and auditor until her retirement (1983).
Bette loved music - she sang throughout high school, at church – in the choir and as a soloist, and for many other occasions. She was a popular soloist for many occasions and groups, and claimed that was how she earned her “pin” money during the “lean” years. During past years, she was a regular soloist for the VA Hospital for many years. Her favorite singer was Vaughn Monroe.
Bette was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and other Fraternal Organizations. She had many, many friends through these groups.
Bette and Jack loved to travel. Over the years she made many trips – to Hawaii and throughout the Southwestern states. Later in life they developed a routine of visiting Tucson in the Spring , visiting various Botanic Gardens, Zoos, and parks in the Summer and Albuquerque in the Fall. She also loved visiting American Indian sites and villages.
If you knew Bette, you knew she loved to garden (Iris, roses and African violets). She loved animals, birds, and butterflies - but especially her multiple dogs (poodles).
She is survived by her son, Al, Daughter-in-Law, Karen, grandchildren, Allison and Ted (Keta, son Anthony) and great-granddaughter, Sophia. She will also be especially missed by her boyfriend, Gus Kochle.
There will be a private service for Bette in the Spring. Memorial donations to Denver Botanic Gardens and the Denver Zoo would be appreciated.
