Obituary for Lawrence R Motchenbaugh

Lawrence R. Motchenbaugh, 73, of Aurora, Colorado passed away June 6, 2017 from cancer. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, April 20, 1944, son of Robert and Mildred Motchenbaugh. Larry graduated from Wilson High School, Wilson, NY, in 1962 lettering in Cross Country running. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 as a Radar Equipment Foreman.
Larry was a lifetime member of the Littleton Elks Lodge 1650, serving as the Exalted Ruler from 1993-1994. He participated in Tae Kwon Do for many years where he achieved brown belt status. He has served as a Deacon and an Elder in the Presbyterian church, most recently as the Elder for the Fellowship and Hospitality Committee for Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. There, Larry was able to realize his passion of making dinners for large numbers of people to help with the fundraising efforts of the church. He spent many hours in the church’s kitchen preparing for the various functions.
Larry retired March 31, 2013 from the Go Dodge Dealership where he worked in the parts department. For the next 4 years, Larry and Becky were able to travel to Peru, Portugal, Spain, Italy and France. His homeland of Germany was to be next on the list.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Rebecca; daughter Tracey (Robbie) Brown of Littleton, CO and sons Lance Motchenbaugh of Littleton, CO, Cory Lack of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Ryan (Anna) Lack of Dallas, TX. He has 4 grandsons: Mitchel Motchenbaugh (17), Noah Brown (17), Mason Brown (13), and Devon Lack (11). He is also survived by three nieces: Ami Hall, Lynde Iozzo, and Jamie Price.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 10:00am at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 5400 S Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, CO 80111. A light lunch will follow. Internment will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Larry’s name. A Memorial Fund has been set up to make improvements to their kitchen.
