Condolence: Dear cousin Gloria, I have recently been going through old photographs and thinking about past experiences. Among them pictures taken at your wedding to Andy where I was a bridesmaid. So long ago! I decided to do a Google search and discovered your husband's obituary, so recent, too. I hope you are doing all right, Gloria. I can see you must have had a long and happy marriage and a family. I am so glad of that and sad to read of your loss. If you care to have a correspondence I would love to hear from you. In any case I understand how hard it is to lose your loved one. My James died in 2011after being married since 1963. The memories help keep your heart from breaking. Love, Marilyn

Condolence: I have never met Andy, but know well the story of the volunteer Coast Guard crew of CG36500 in the rescue of 32 sailors from the tanker Pendleton off of Chatham, Cape Cod. Sailor rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country.

Condolence: Dear Mrs. Fitzgerald,
Please accept our condolences for the passing of your husband. I only met him once, here in Denver at the Colorado premier of The Finest Hours, but feel like it was several times through the movies and stories of his courageous service to our country. Our country is great because of the great men and women who have shown courage and given of themselves in the service of others - and your husband is an inspirational Coast Guard hero who makes all of us previous and current Coasties proud. We offer our prayers for your peace and comfort, and hope that it brings some peace that your husband has touched many lives.
Blessings, Charles Meyer

There are no words to express how deeply sorry we were to hear of Andy's passing. He was an amazing person. Such love and caring in his heart. He always made me laugh with his dry sense of humor. Always loved hear his stories about his Coast Guard days. He was so proud, as we all were.
Thank you for the years of friendship. We will miss you. You will be forever in our hearts and will be missed by Many. Rest In Peace Dear Friend.

Condolence: Dear Gloria - My heart goes out to you and the family. Andy was a very special addition to out family tree all these years and a very special person, indeed. My mind goes back to some of the earlier days, but I cherish the times you and Andy came back East and we'd have a bite and catch up on all things family and non family. He was a real "star" whose light will continue to shine because of who he was and the book and the movie also help a little for those who did not know him personally. The love you shared will continue to keep you strong. I send a daily bouquet of HugZ.

Condolence: Dear Gloria and Fitzgerald Family,

My wife Marilyn and I wish to express our deepest condolences at passing of Andy. As a fellow USCG Station Chatham crew member, I know well the story of Engineman Second Class Andy Fitzgerald and the crew of the CG36500. I had the honor and pleasure to meet with Andy on several occasions. It gave me the opportunity to witness first hand what a truly kind and humble man he was. He will be missed but never forgotten.

With Deep Respect,

MCPROCGR Jeff and Marilyn Smith
