The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joshua Monzel can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Josh's growing up years

There are many many stories I could tell about Josh like the time I had my first knee surgery in early1996. Josh was 10. I was straight legged all bandaged up in a leg brace for 6 weeks. My day was spent in bed because i could not put any weight on that leg. So Josh would come over and stay with me quite often. He go out in the kitchen and say Grandma what kind of t.v. dinner should we have. He'd put it in the microwave and I'd hobble out and we eat together.  He also would lay on the bed with me and we'd watch videos. I remember "Lion King" the most. We just get done watching it and he'd go all excited.. "Do you want to watch it again.." . Of course, we did. He was a pro at the VCR.

Then there was the time PaPa got his video camera and he was learning how to operate the different settings. They were down in the family room in the basement doing all this videoing and Josh was his act. They had the stereo on, and Josh would appear on scene dancing and dancing with some fantastic moves. He'd come from the other room and slide into action. It was the cutest thing. I had put those 8mm videos on VCR and one summer a few years ago I took them to MN and used my brother-in-laws equipment and made a DVD. It was darling. I only regret Josh never seen it recently. This last Christmas when the other grandkids were here, I dug out my DVDs and we saw some of them. It was neat. In particular, they liked this one of Josh.

As Josh got older PaPa would take him and his friend, Chris to Taewondo practice. They got pretty good at it.  I don't have a picture but do have that on DVD as well..

Josh was also a very good baseball player. We always stopped at the ball field on the way home from work. Usually PaPa beat me there since he got off earlier.  We get out our bag of sun flower seeds and enjoy the games. We rarely never missed a game.  Very fond memories.
